A black pro-life leader wants those who are voicing opposition to the Confederate flag to turn their voices in another direction – specifically, against the racism of abortion.

In the aftermath of the tragic and deadly shootings last month at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, a loud public cry has gone up to take down the Confederate flag and monuments to leaders of the Confederacy. The accused shooter – whose trial date was set today for next July – appeared in online photos holding the Confederate flag.

Rev. Clenard Childress, Jr., a spokesman for the pro-life group L.E.A.R.N., spoke to OneNewsNow from the NAACP Convention in Philadelphia.

“Right now I think the African-American community is quite hypocritical and short-sighted when it comes to being in an uproar about the Confederate flag and totally ignore the 1,786 African-American children who are killed each day in the womb,” he stated.

In fact, he says every two weeks abortion providers kill more African-American preborn babies than the Ku Klux Klan killed in 15 years – something he contends is totally ignored by African-American leadership. The pro-life leader believes one reason for that is heavy contributions from Planned Parenthood to organizations such as the NAACP “that has bought their silence.”

“When we begin to really look at the facts, we’ll recognize that our leadership is more about their own power and their own political progress than they are the plight of African-Americans,” Childress charges.

Childress suggests those who oppose “everything Confederate” become even louder in opposing abortion of black preborn children.
