San Antonio Official: City Threatened to Fire Me if I Didn’t Approve Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz

In Texas, the City of San Antonio is doing everything they can to ensure that Planned Parenthood gets to open illegally in a suburban residential zone. As LifeNews previously reported, the abortion business is planning to open a $6.5 million facility that covers 22,000 sq. ft.

However, the Senior Planner for the city, Trenton Robertson, issued Planned Parenthood a letter that stated their facility could not open because it’s not properly zoned for an ambulatory surgical center. According to the Texas Scorecard, his superiors then called for his termination even though he was just doing his job by applying the United Development Code.

He testified that prior to signing the letter, San Antonio Planning Manager Catherine Hernandez sent out an email informing staff that anything regarding 2140 Babcock was required to be sent up the chain of command.

Robertson recounted that, due to approaching deadlines for issuance, his colleagues being on vacation at the time, and simply forgetting about the email regarding special treatment, he decided to go ahead and do his job by issuing the letter. Shortly thereafter, he testified, Catherine Hernandez indicated to him that people in the Director’s office and City Manager’s office wanted him terminated, although, as he further stated, he had never been disciplined or received any negative evaluation.

Robertson now works for the City of Kerrville in a similar capacity, where he plans to move himself and his family. Planned Parenthood’s facility is all-but-set to open up and begin operation. Residents have repeatedly called on the San Antonio City Council to do something about the controversial facility being built in the middle of their neighborhood. Unfortunately, as we’ve previously reported, San Antonio City Council members are tainted with campaign contributions from Planned Parenthood board members and donors. However, Mayor Ivy Taylor —who is currently in a runoff with notorious abortion advocate Leticia Van De Putte— has promised to look into the situation.

In 2013, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 2 (HB2), which mandated that abortion facilities meet the same safety standards of other Ambulatory Surgical Centers in the state, as well as require abortionists to attain hospital-admitting privileges. Now Planned Parenthood is trying to get special treatment from the city and open their facility anyway.

Thankfully, a group called Stop Planned Parenthood has been able to slow down the abortion giant’s progress. In a press release, the pro-life group said they were successful in securing a court order barring the city from issuing them a certificate of occupancy and from approving a special use permit for now. They said, “The city department in charge of issuing permits for building constructions has issued conflicting opinions on whether a major ambulatory surgical center can be provided a zoning permit as a C1 business, usually issued to mom and pop businesses. The new Planned Parenthood site is zoned C1, while similar medical centers in San Antonio are zoned C3.”

Unfortunately, if Planned Parenthood does open it has the potential to drastically increase the state’s abortion rate since it will be one of the largest facilities in south Texas
