West Virginia is fighting for religious freedom with a Religious Freedom Restoration Act. There are twenty-one states that have passed laws  “limiting the government’s ability to punish people for living out their faith in public,” says West Virginia Speaker of the House Tim Armstead.  “West Virginians take their religious liberty very seriously, and we want to ensure that they are protected. It’s not creating a new right; it’s not taking away anyone’s rights; it’s simply restating what our Constitution already guarantees and what natural laws and God-given rights are in our country.”

House Majority Whip John O’Neal says, “People of West Virginia have just had enough, and they are tired of big government overreaching into every area of our lives. We believe that West Virginians should be free to live and work according to their faith, without being in danger of being punished by their government.”

Armstead says, “We would certainly appreciate the prayers of the people across this country, that we would do what’s right and show the courage to take this across the finish line.”
